How Spotify pays

Four rules behind the number.

  • A share, not a rateSpotify pays each rightsholder its share of all streams in a country and month. The rate per stream is an average after the fact.
  • 1,000 streams firstSince April 2024 a track earns only after 1,000 streams in the last 12 months, from a minimum number of listeners.
  • Your distributor pays youSpotify pays your label or distributor. You get what your contract gives you.
  • Fake streams cost moneyArtificial streams earn nothing, and Spotify charges a fee per track for flagrant cases.
